Pitch to Policy
India faces a tremendous housing challenge in terms of quantity, quality and affordability of housing. As we continue to grow and increase the housing supply, it is also important to adopt a low carbon development trajectory in wake of the climate crisis. The ‘Pitch to Policy’ ideas competition aims to attract and groom ideas that can accelerate the housing market on this path. Specifically, it seeks
Ideas that can
- break barriers in adoption of existing technical knowledge
- lead to innovations in design, materials, technology and construction
- transform markets, supply chain and finance
- improve policy framework and governance
- reduce life-cycle impacts (embodied, operational and demolition) of materials, construction, operation, maintenance, and demolition
to make <low carbon and thermally comfortable> housing <affordable and scalable> at an <accelerated pace>.
Pitch to Policy is an educational programme. It has the specific goal of finding and promoting teams of built environment professionals who have ideas for healthy zero emissions apartments and homes through practical measures that can have an influence on policy. It provides a competition for final presentations referred to as the Pitching competition. The goal of the programme is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the built environment through any and all changes to policy, materials, process, education, and practice which can be affected by professionals who apply to this programme.
The entries will be judged on the articulation of the relevance of the problem statement, strength of proposed solution, and its potential to accelerate supply of low carbon, thermally comfortable, affordable housing.
The three best teams will be awarded a prize of USD 2,000 each directly from GBPN. This prize is not a payment for work. Recipients are required to make any taxation or income declarations that are appropriate. All teams receive a participation certificate.
